Rakuten, Inc. is a Japanese e-commerce and Internet company with a B2B2C (two-sided market) e-commerce platform. It is the largest e-commerce site in Japan and among the world’s largest by sales, commanding 2% of Japan's GDP. I identified trends and areas of opportunity for product development across the portfolio of products owned by each business unit.

  • Directed and led 8 cross-functional teams in 12 countries, delivering large-scale web and mobile projects to user base of 1B+ users

  • Owned corporate product strategy for Japan and US and led high-performing, cross-cultural, multi-lingual teams and managed vendors and partners

  • Developed complex enterprise solutions for Rakuten FinTech groups: credit card, bank and mobile payments system. Designed and shipped an in-house corporate app. Monitored and owned overall app health by investigating both short-term and long-term platform trends, coming to actionable conclusions, and reporting findings to management and executives.
